Welcome to Modern Medicine with Dr. Blake Pearson. This exciting new show will pull back the curtain on the field of western medicine and explore the scientific and real-world evidence for emerging treatments related to some of the most common–and complex–health conditions affecting people today.

In episode one, we introduce you to Dr. Blake Pearson and get an in-depth introduction to one of the most talked about topics in modern medicine: cannabinoid-based medicine (medical cannabis). In this episode, we discuss what conditions may be treated, safety and side-effects, myths & truths, how it can be safely used to reduce opioid prescribing, and its role in helping patients to reduce the risks associated with polypharmacy (the number of medications you’re taking at the same time). Diagnoses discussed include chronic pain (fibromyalgia, arthritis, joint pain, etc.), pediatric epilepsy, chemotherapy-induced nausea and vomiting, mental health (anxiety & PTSD), autism spectrum disorder, multiple sclerosis spasticity and dementia.
